Melbourne – March with Me is an annual event held by Love Me Love You which has just completed it’s fourth year with a record number of participants walking around the bay of Melbourne over two days and 116kms.
From March 4 to 5, over 320 participants joined in across the three legs of the event. With over 100 people walking the full two days from Portsea to Port Melbourne, an additional 100 joining for the one day from Frankston and another 120 people joining for a half day event from Sandringham. All our participants worked together to bring to life the essence of what Love Me Love You strive to deliver, that “No one person should ever travel their journey alone”.
This message is key to the event which culminates with everyone walking and working together… no one is left behind. At the finish line we had 320 amazing people cross the line as one team!
– Eight 15-16 year olds that walked the full two days and 116kms.
– Plus, another 15 kids aged between 10-15 year olds who participated in the second day of March with Me 2017.
– Of these young walkers were the Kokoda Group which included 4 young adults aged
14-16 years who continue to overcome adversity and strive for a better outcome. These young participants travelled the full distance without the advantage of having proper runners, with two
of them in hiking boots as that was all that was available and another in shoes with holes.
We are truly humbled to have these young adults join the march and push through their various situations to complete the journey.
The event has generated over $250k to date and donations are still open. This is by far the biggest event we have held and this money will allow us to continue to reach young adults through offering subsidised programs into schools and sporting clubs giving young adults access to a pathway for help.
